The Grid Distributor addon for Blender helps users efficiently distribute selected objects in a customizable grid. With adjustable spacing, it allows for 1D, 2D, and 3D grid distributions. Additionally, the add-on supports storing and restoring object positions, making it ideal for workflows where objects need to be organized systematically, especially for performing multiple baking processes at once.
Features:
- Grid Distribution: Distribute selected objects in 1D, 2D, or 3D grids with adjustable spacing.
- Store and Restore Positions: Store the positions of objects and restore them later, useful for keeping track of layouts.
- High-Low Poly Matching: Option to match the positions of highpoly and lowpoly objects.
- Flexible Grid Types: Choose between 1D (line), 2D (flat), or 3D (volume) grid arrangements.
- Optimized for Baking: Ideal for organizing objects for multiple baking processes at once.
How to use:
- Select Objects: In the 3D Viewport, select the objects you want to distribute in a grid.
- Open the Grid Distributor Panel: Go to the "Grid Distributor" tab in the sidebar (N-panel).
- Choose Grid Type: Select the grid type (1D, 2D, or 3D) and set the spacing between the objects.
- Optional - Match High and Low Poly: If you want lowpoly objects to match the positions of their corresponding highpoly versions, enable the "High-Low Match Positions" option and specify the suffixes for high and low poly objects.
- Store and Restore Positions: Use the "Store Positions" button to save the current positions of selected objects, and "Restore Positions" to return objects to their stored locations later.
- Distribute Objects: Click the "Distribute in Grid" button to arrange your selected objects in the chosen grid layout.
